About Us

The Tennessee Valley Coalition to End Homelessness is a broad base of community partners who work diligently to prevent homelessness and to meet the needs of the homeless population in East Tennessee. They plan, develop and implement collaborative services designed to provide needed care and create systemic change within the community. Partners of the Tennessee Valley Coalition work together to address the larger picture and identify gaps in the services, unmet needs, and what future services might be required. The Tennessee Valley Coalition speaks as one voice and through mutual support and recognition of each partner as part of a larger whole, a community attitude is created. This community is then better able to meet the needs of homeless people and foster the systematic change necessary to break the cycle of homelessness, by responding to the needs of the community and region.

The primary purposes of the Coalition are to:

  • Develop an active network of providers who serve near homeless and homeless individuals and families across the region in order to: (a) identify gaps in service needs, (b) coordinate the delivery of services, and (c) conserve limited rural resources, (d) reduce the number of fraudulent requests
  • Administer the regional Homeless Management Information System through which providers can track and access the services provided to their clients
  • determine the unmet housing and social service needs in each county
  • Collectively provide aggregate data to service providers, local government and grant seekers
  • Provide free training opportunities for staff and ongoing technical assistance for provider organizations
  • Secure funding and needed resources to help local agencies better meet community needs
  • Serve as the lead agency for HUD Continuum of Care programs
  • Engage existing and new partners to unite the voice of stakeholders and achieve a shared vision of ending homelessness
