TVCEH has been invited by the Children’s Defense Fund to identify up to 50 young adults (ages 18-30) to participate for free in their upcoming National Conference as part of the Young Advocate Leadership Training on July 22-25, 2012, in Cincinnati, Ohio.

We are working with our partner agencies to identify and recommend these young leaders so that CDF can provide training on breaking the cycle of poverty, developing community building and engagement models, best practices in aiding children, juvenile justice and mass incarceration, and so much more. As part of the Young Advocate Leadership Training, young adults will be specifically trained in how to counter and help dismantle the Cradle to Prison Pipeline that seems to entrap so many of our upcoming generations.

Registration is only $50, and all transportation (bus), room and board, and meals will be provided for the Young Advocates. For more information, contact TVCEH or a TVCEH partner for a flyer and application. Applications must be received by TVCEH by May 30, 2012.

Loudon County is making plans on what the next steps are for the homeless in their county...

County Mayor Estelle Herron said she was surprised the numbers were so high.

"I would have thought maybe 100 or 150, somewhere in that area, but it is really high," Herron said. "At some point, we need the committee to sit down and review the information and see where we need to go, what direction we should take."
